In the majority of nests located of Polistes dorsalis the females have the
mesopleuron, metapleuron, and lateral side of the propodeum predominately
black. This nest is one such
example. However, a few intermediate
specimens may occur with the mesopleuron and lateral propodeum mixed black and
ferruginous, such as with voucher specimen HLKHYM:373 (below).
FEMALES
The following individuals were preserved
in alcohol 12-22 hours after emerging.
These individuals were preserved in
alcohol 30-41 hours after emerging.
